Behind-the-Scenes of Visual Fan Book Production

Hello backers,
Yesterday, we have introduced you the Visual Fan Book itself. Today, we want you to take a look at our flatplan for the Visual Fan Book. Flatplan is sort of a blueprint for making a book.
This time, we have 224 pages of contents, so we made a thorough flatplan to make sure the layout effective and visually appealing in this great book.
Some texts are in Japanese, so it might be a little confusing for most of you, but the snapshots below are documents designating the images and texts to be included in the layout of certain pages for the DTP designers, with texts beautifully translated by the translation team.
This is the character introduction section.
In this section, the brief introduction of the character with key visual image is placed next to the explanation on the hidden abilities that is not revealed in-game, along with a radar chart explaining the ability’s strength.
This might be useful to make comparisons between your favorite characters. Take a close look once it arrives at your front door!
After the character introduction, many of the stills are presented.
Together with the symbolic lines from the scene, you can recall your encounter with the specific scene.
In the game, some of the stills are too large to show on the screen at once, and are shown while scrolling the image. In this Visual Fan Book, you can enjoy such stills at a glance, and experience its totality.
Some of the line drawing by the artist is included, so you can appreciate the production process of the artwork.

昨日はビジュアルファンブックの紹介をさせていただきましたが、本日はビジュアルファンブック制作における台割データをお見せしたいと思います。
台割とは、本を制作する上で必要な設計図のようなものです。
今回ページ数が224Pということもあり、ページ構成にミスが無いようチェックする意味でもこちらは重要なものとなります。
一部日本語でわかりにくい部分があるかと思いますが、デザイナーに対して掲載するイベントCGとセリフテキストを指示する資料です。
使用する絵素材と掲載するテキストを用意して、デザイナーがページを作っていきます。
ページの先頭の掲載するキャラクター紹介のページです。
こちらのページでは、キャラの紹介や立ち絵の他、ゲーム中では公開されない能力を持つキャラクターのパラメーターがグラフとして表示されています。
一目でそのキャラクターの強さがわかる目安として、是非お気に入りにキャラクターの強さを確かめてみてはどうでしょうか？
キャラクター紹介の後は、ゲーム中のCGを載せたページとなります。
象徴的なセリフなども合わせて掲載して、本を見ながらゲームのあのシーンを思い出していただけると思います。
また、ゲーム上では、モニターの画面サイズの都合上スクロールすることでしか全てを見ることができないCGも、ビジュアルファンブックでは見開きを利用したり、本の形を利用することでしっかりとした１枚の絵として掲載しております。
中には、彩色する前の原画家の描いた線画も掲載しており満足できる作りとなっております。

Steam Codes Sent! And Important Announcements

Dear Backers,
As we have mentioned in the previous update, the distribution of the download codes was delayed.
But the wait is over! The codes should be distributed to all backers who have answered the Backerkit surveys, so check your email!
The codes are already valid, so backers have slightly earlier access to the game than users on Steam. So please enjoy!
Once you entered the codes, you might notice "For Beta Testing" right next to the game title in your Library on Steam. Let us explain.
We needed to set the keys as "keys for beta access" in order for you backers to enjoy the game before the release on Steam Store. The contents itself is all finished and in shape, so there is nothing "Beta" about what you are getting except for the arbitrary setting on Steam, so stay assured.
The game will also become available on Steam Store from June 2nd 2017(JST).
Also, we have some announcements to make.
About Visual Fan Book
As we have announced in the previous update, the Visual Fan Book will be translated and become available to backers who have pledged $400 and above. With that update, we have received several questions from backers. Today, we want to clarify the situation.
The requirement for receiving the Visual Fan Book was announced as “those who pledged $400 and up”. The exact pledge levels that meet the criterion is as follows:
- Replica shikishis. (Full set)：$400
- Signed physical edition：$440
- LDO member tapestries. (Full set)：$1000
- Signed Kickstarter shikishi. : $1400
- Add name to credits. : $1500
- Full color shikishi. : $2500
This also means Pre-order backers who have pledged to the following levels are also included:

- Signed physical edition Pre-order：$440
- LDO member tapestries. (Full set) Pre-order：$1000
We have also received requests to make the Visual Fan Book available as an add-on. You asked it, so here it is!
First, we will be extending the Pre-Order store closing date for the last time! The closing date will be 16:00, June 12th, 2017 (JST) so this is the last time for you to get it.
During this 11-day extension time, a new add-on will be available. That is, the Visual Fan Book. This will be sold for $70 each.
We will also be adding new Pre-order packages. These are basically selected existing pre-order without digital copies of the game and the OST. They are aimed for those who purchased the game through Steam, but also want pre-order items on Backerkit.

Important notice for locked down backers
We know that many of you are already locked down on the Backerkit, and therefore cannot edit their orders. If there are backers who are already locked down, and wish to add the Visual Fan Book to your order, we will need to manually unlock your response for you to add the Visual Fan Book.
So we kindly ask you to contact us through Backerkit. The Backerkit website has “Need Help?” link on the top right corner. You can contact us through there. We apologize for the confusion and inconvenience this may cause.
Announcements about expected shipping dates
As we have mentioned in the previous update, there are unexpected number of orders for physical rewards. Thank you very much, and sorry again for the delay. The shipping is expected to be around the end of July this year.
As for the digital rewards the games should already be in your hand, provided you have answered your survey. As for the digital OST, the distribution of the reward is expected to be around the end of June.
R-18 Patch
The development of the R-18 patch is taking longer than expected. The texts are already translated, but the texts has to be implemented and debugging is needed before the release. We are expecting it to be released around the end of July. We will be posting exact release date once we know.
VITA Version
A lot of you have asked us about the situation regarding VITA release. Here is the situation.
At the moment, the development is taking longer than expected. We cannot give you the exact release date as we cannot determine the time it requires for rating, but it is expected to be released in autumn 2017.
We will be announcing details once we know the exact dates.
We sincerely apologize for the delay and confusion. We hope you will understand.

この度は、英語版『Dies irae ～Amantes amentes～』のリリースが遅れてしまい誠に申し訳ございませんでした。
こちらは日本時間2017年6月2日に正式にリリース致します。
それに伴いまして、ゲームをSteamでプレイするためのコードを既にBackerkitでのサーベイにご回答頂いている方には送付させていただきました。
Steamでのリリースより早く現時点からプレイ可能です。
コードを入力した後、ライブラリ画面のDies iraeのタイトルの横に「for Beta Testing」の文字が表示されますが、これは支援者の皆様にSteam Storeのリリースよりも早くプレイしていただけるように、コードをβアクセス用に設定したためです。ゲーム自体の開発は終わっており、中身に関してはリリース版となっていますのでご安心下さい。

Hello backers!
The crowdfunding portion of the Dies irae campaign (Pre-orders are still available!) has come to a close on Backerkit as of May 31st, and we sincerely thank you for all of the support we have received.
Combined with what we received on Kickstarter, our grand total approximates to $290,000.
While we did not reach our $300,000 stretch goal, we have decided to release our exclusive 200 page Visual Fan Book to those who pledged $400 and up.
It was very moving to see the enthusiasm and effort our fans showed to reach $300K and as a result, we have decided that we would indeed like to bring to you that in-depth look into the world of Dies irae.
Please look forward to it!
Unfortunately, we are also very sorry to announce that there will be more upcoming delays regarding shipping and the Steam release.
While it has been very exciting to receive such positive responses to the physical rewards, our shipping process has been running behind schedule due to the sheer amount of backers. We will notify you in 2 weeks about this later shipping date.
The announced 5/31 release of Dies irae on Steam will also be slightly delayed. We have a few more hurdles to get over before the game can officially be published.
However, we will be sending out the Steam download codes through Backerkit within the week, so please stay tuned! As for the other digital rewards, we will notify you about them in 2 weeks as well.

Survey Lockdown Date!

Thank you for your continued support of Dies irae.
We are moving towards sorting the production process of the rewards. In order to finalize the list of rewards and its variants for production, we will be locking the Backerkit surveys on 09:00 AM, 31 May, 2017(JST).
After that date, you will not be able to change your survey responses (e.g. choices for your tapestries, changing the pledge level).
However, please rest assured as you will still be able to change your shipping address until shipping preparations are fully complete. We will notify you when we are ready to ship and must finalize your shipping address.
We would also like to remind all backers to please make sure once again that your preferences are reflected correctly on your Backerkit survey responses. If you have not yet answered the Backerkit survey, please do so right now!
Regarding payments for add-on orders and pledge level changes completed through Backerkit, those who chose payment by credit card will be charged after the lockdown date (5/31).
